Somebody in Hethel sat down one morning and decided to build sixty of these. Not six thousand. Sixty. Two of them made it to Asia, and one of those two is sitting in our workshop right now, ticking quietly as the brakes cool, entirely unaware of how much trouble it is about to cause in your household.
This is a Lotus Exige Cup 380. It's a genuine Cup car, and the people who actually know Lotus know exactly what separates a Cup from a Sport. You either recognise why that sentence matters or you don't, and if you do, you have already stopped reading and started calculating.
Now, the numbers. Recon dealers are landing non-Cup, Exige Sport 390 Final Editions and asking around RM650,000. A thoroughbred Exige Cup 430 is knocking on RM1 million. A Sport 350 or an older V6 sits around RM450,000. This car, the high point of the Exige line before the Final Edition arrived, is RM550,000.
Read those numbers twice.
The cheapest way into the rarest thing here is not the entry-level option, it's THIS one. That is not how the car market normally behaves, and it will not behave this way for long; let the buyer beware!
It is savage on track and costs less to keep there than a Porsche GT3 does. That is no slight on the GT3, which is a magnificent thing. It is simply a fact about consumables, weight and a supercharged V6 that has always had a reputation for reliability.
Here is where we come in.
We have the vendor network and the Lotus-specific expertise to make this car fresher, sharper and more yours before you ever turn a wheel in anger. Seats, setup, finish, the details that separate a car you own from a car that was built for you.
Sought-after cars like this surface once. Somebody paying attention buys it, and then it disappears into a private garage for fifteen years and reappears at an auction with a number attached that makes everyone feel slightly ill.
