Isuzu GIGA range gets four additional Euro5-compliant variants
Isuzu Malaysia, the leader in the commercial truck market, has expanded its heavy-duty line-up with the launch of four Euro 5-compliant Isuzu GIGA prime mover variants, directly addressing strict emission standards and rising operational demands within the logistics sector.
The additional variants are available with both manual and automated manual transmission options across 4 specific configurations: the EK5 410T manual, EK5 410T AMT, EW5 410 manual, and EW5 460 AMT.
Robust efficient Blue Power engine
Powering the latest GIGA range is the Blue Power GH11 11-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine which is engineered to deliver high torque across a wide powerband while optimizing overall fuel consumption. Manual variants pair the robust powerplant with a 9-speed gearbox, whereas AMT-equipped models utilize a 12-speed transmission.
The engine is designed to optimize long-term ownership costs by reducing routine maintenance burdens and maximizing overall thermal efficiency during heavy haulage operations. To meet Euro 5 emission compliance, Isuzu engineers developed Selective Catalytic Reduction technology, which utilizes AdBlue exhaust fluid to minimize toxic nitrogen oxide outputs. A 405-litre fuel tank is standard, providing long-distance capability.
Extensive safety systems
Safety hardware includes standard SRS airbags paired with pretensioner seatbelts, along with an Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). The EBD unit dynamically modulates braking pressure across all wheels depending on total payload, current speed, and surface traction.
On the higher-spec EK5 410T AMT and EW5 460 AMT variants, thereβs also Electronic Vehicle Stability Control which actively monitors steering angles and wheel speeds. When necessary in critical situations, engine output is electronically adjusted along with targeted individual wheel braking to prevent vehicle roll-over or skidding.
Like being in a passenger car
Inside the GIGA cab, driver ergonomics and long-haul fatigue management have received much attention. The rear of the cabin utilizes an air-bellow suspension system to absorb chassis vibrations and severe road impacts.
The updated driver instrument cluster incorporates simplified real-time driver-coaching displays to assist operators in maintaining safe, efficient driving habits.
Infotainment and route management are handled via a 2DIN AV navigation unit with a 7-inch touchscreen, hands-free Bluetooth connectivity, equalizer adjustments, USB ports, and support for both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The driver would feel like he (or she) is almost like being in a passenger car.
