Here the details.
Based on Protonโs official ProCare service schedule for the S70 1.5-litre NA, the total cost of scheduled maintenance up to 100,000 km or five years is approximately RM3,788.71. This includes scheduled services at 1,000 km, 10,000 km, and every subsequent 10,000 km until reaching 100,000 km.
At 1,000 km, the owner pays RM195.28, while the 10,000 km service costs RM197.28. The 20,000 km service increases slightly to RM266.28 due to additional maintenance items such as the cabin filter.
The 30,000 km service returns to RM197.28, before increasing significantly at 40,000 km to RM690.23. At this mileage, several additional components need to be replaced, including CVT transmission fluid, transmission oil filter, spark plugs, brake fluid, and the engine air filter.
The 50,000 km service costs RM197.28, while the 60,000 km service is one of the most expensive in the schedule at RM917.08. In addition to engine oil and related filters, this service also includes several additional items such as CVT transmission fluid, spark plugs, brake fluid, and the cabin filter.
After that, maintenance costs become more moderate. The 70,000 km service costs RM229.68, while the 80,000 km service costs RM318.12. The 90,000 km service costs RM229.68, followed by another RM318.12 at 100,000 km.
When all the scheduled services are added together, the S70 1.5 NA owner would spend RM3,788.71 over five years or up to 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
One factor that helps keep the maintenance cost reasonable is Protonโs programme offering six complimentary labour services for the S70 1.5. According to the ProCare schedule, labour charges remain at RM0 for the first six services up to 50,000 km, before labour charges begin to appear in subsequent services.
However, the situation is slightly different when compared with the S70 equipped with the 1.5-litre turbo engine. The turbo version uses the 1.5TD engine, producing up to 181 PS and 290 Nm, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (7DCT).
Based on Protonโs ProCare Smart Plan for five years or 100,000 km, maintenance for the S70 1.5 turbo costs approximately RM4,073.33. This means the turbo version costs only around RM284.62 more than the S70 1.5 NA over the same ownership period.
So, which one would you consider?
