Jesse Liew of dK @ Detailing Kingdom sold me a pad with Ostriches hair!!!

To begin with, Jesse and I have been discussing about wool pads for a decade. I wanted him to produce a thin short wool pad. He made one sample. It was too thin, wasn’t easy on paint surface. He made it thicker; was too ‘spongy’ like, was affecting much because of machine weight and was only good for a rotary on it’s own weight. He kept making samples, all were thrown away.

Until one day Jesse said, let’s make a ‘long wool pad’. I insist on a short wool pad. I don’t know how many lamb/sheep he shaved, and where all that came from, but finally, came out dK Nippon Short Wool Pad.

It was great, on a DA, on a Rotary. Balanced, not too thin, not too thick. And I’ve been using it for years, great cutting, lesser cut on a DA (Dual Action) but with a few pass of compounds, problems can be settled, what’s important, less marring/buffer marks.

One fine day, Jesse sent me a funny looking wool pad. A pad I thought I will never use. A long wool pad. Sigh, I told him many² times, I want a short one because long wool pads couldn’t work for me. Didn’t use it until I was out of wool pads, and had to take out the funny looking coloured ostriches hair like pad, urgh.

I was amazed. I never really liked long wool pads, but I understand that the cutting is more aggressive, and what amuses me is, it has less to no buffer marks. Wow, amazing! It’s meant purely for Rotary; but me a typical out of the box guy I did it on a DA (Dual Action) and a GA (Gear Action). It works well too.

Of course Jesse is not lack of creativity. He made short hair Orbital Hybrid purely for DA. You guys should get your hands on this. It will solve your life’s biggest problems.

This Orbital Hybrid is the missing link.

And yes, it’s lamb wool eventually, not ostriches.
