It's been a wild hot Summer here in San Carlos. It's the first Summer I've been off my boat as it was hauled July 1st for some overdue bottom paint, through hulls and transducers. I'm renting the guest house from Don and Brisa Brame who used to manage San Carlos Yacht sales and closed during Covid.
My boat is a 1989 C&C 41 equipped with marine a/c and Raymarine chartplotters and Simrad weather and autopilot. I'm thinking she will be put up for sale when ready to splash this Fall as I won't be going back into Marina Real. She will get a good polishing. New RIB and 12hp outboard

We've recently had some feedback from clients using AI for both offer to purchase and to evaluate costs to refit. The answers they are providing in most cases are ridiculous as AI responses are not responsive to current and changing costs in Mexico or I expect many other countries.
A yacht's value is not only determined by design, equipment and condition but also location. The market varies by the season as well as local and international political/economic factors. If you can input all these into your AI question, then maybe you will get an intelligent response.
The same applies to refit or repairs as the identical cost of repair in San Carlos will be different than La Paz, Los Angeles or Florida. The availability and delivery costs of parts can easily double or triple between Florida and Mexico.
AI may not provide more accurate answers than you will get from social media which is abundant with cockpit lawyers and cockpit engineers. The ever present 50,000 mile sea captain whose boat has never left the dock and trades advice for free drinks in the Captain's Club.
Free Advice and free boats are everywhere, and they both can cost you more than you can imagine. Do you want to cruise or spend the next two years in the workyard.

Hans Christian 43 Staysail Ketch - SOLD

Remedy arrived and was quickly sold to an Australian couple that plan to do some refits and cruise the sea for a while before returning to the South Pacific. This well-equipped and maintained vessel has several backup offers because of its heritage and seaworthiness.

Still a buyer's market with some great yachts to be had at great prices. My inventory is dropping and I need some worthy vessels in the 36-45 foot range to market.
