The 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Scaglietti Berlinetta, shown by David F. MacNeil, is lined up and ready to drive the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance presented by ROLEX.

The Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta “TdF” earned its moniker after Alfonso de Portago’s victory in the 1956 Tour de France courtesy of his Ferrari 250 Berlinetta. The 250 GT TdF was such a success that Ferrari ultimately produced another 77 cars in four different series.

This particular TdF (chassis 0909GT) is the seventh of the 36 cars from the final series. The distinguishing features of this series are the single louvers over the rear sail panels and the enclosed headlamps. The body was designed by Pinin Farina and built by Scaglietti, with body and interior panels in aluminum.

This car’s racing record began with its first owner, amateur racer Walter Lambert of Switzerland. He campaigned the car in 22 hill climbs and achieved 18 podium finishes, 13 of them as winner. The car’s successes continued with its next owner, Tommy Spychiger, during the 1961 European hill climb season.

The car remained in Europe and has been raced competitively by its subsequent owners in a host of historic events. Its current owner bought the car in 2017 and had it restored.

From the Don Patrol to the Dawn Patrol presented by Hagerty. It all began with the race to be the first in line — the first entrant to be greeted by the Concours Chairman and the first to pull onto the competition field of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The 1921 Bentley 3 Litre Harrison Open Two Seater Sports passes The Lodge at Pebble Beach during the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance presented by ROLEX.

This important 3 Litre Bentley is the oldest original production Bentley in the world and the first car that Walter Owen (W. O.) Bentley sold to a private customer. Chassis number 3 was fitted with the fourth 3-litre engine to be finished at Bentley’s Cricklewood factory in northwest London.

Its unpainted, 2-seater body was built by R. Harrison & Son of London, and the finished car was delivered on August 3, 1921, to Bentley’s first customer, Ivor Llewelyn of Monmouthshire, Wales, who was also the father of Desmond Llewelyn, the actor who played “Q” in the James Bond movie series.

Incredibly, this unique Bentley has survived exactly as delivered, complete with all of its original brass fittings and polished aluminum body despite its 98 years. Throughout its early ownership, the 3 Litre was serviced by Bentley Motors every year until 1931 when the company was sold to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

Chassis 3 was recently refreshed in England for its new owner and it made its debut at the 2019 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
