After a proper valve job, the valve should move freely and settle cleanly on the seat.
That small bounce shows correct geometry and good sealing.

During cylinder head porting and upgrades, it’s easy to overlook one important thing — compression ratio.
Changes like:
• Bigger or differently shaped valves
• Valve seat and angle work
• Combustion chamber reshaping and polishing
…can all affect chamber volume, and therefore change the compression ratio.
That’s why it’s always a good idea to recheck combustion chamber volume before head milling.
Only then you know where you actually are — and how much you can safely remove to achieve your target.

Audi Ur-Quattro 20VT built for Historic Rally racing.
First dyno tuning session — running on regular fuel and just 1.0 bar of boost.
❗Key highlights:❗
• Fully custom-built setup — almost no stock parts remain
• Custom-made, resonance-matched and flow-tested carbon intake manifold
• With boost holding steady at 1.0 bar, a clear resonance effect appears around ~5100 RPM, where cylinder filling is at its best
• Custom-designed exhaust manifold for an EVO X–style turbo
• Ported cylinder head with performance components
• Built engine block with forged internals
• High compression ratio setup (optimized for turbo restrictor applications)
• Custom downpipe and exhaust system
• Built gearbox with upgraded differentials
This build is all about efficiency and precision, making the most out of limited boost.
