Have you realized that it is so hot, that it feels like we are living on the surface of the sun?

Here are few tips to help you protect your exterior parts of your car from the damaging effects of the sun and to protect your pocket from the expenses as well:
1. Mind your battery: Too much heat drains life out of your car battery, regularly test it and keep its top clean.
2. Wash your car regularly to prevent damage to its protective topcoat by the dirt and debris that may cause scratches.
3. Put a coat of wax: This will help to protect your vehicle’s paint from sun and other elements. Wax also helps repel dirt and debris, prevent water spots and keeps your car looking shiny and new.
4. Find a shady spot: Parking in the shade will help keep the sun off your car and keep down the interior temperature. If you have leather or vinyl seats in your vehicle, covered parking will save your legs from getting scorched when you sit down.
5. Cover up: If you don’t have covered parking where you live or work, you could invest in a car cover. These fitted car blankets are like SPF for your vehicle’s paint. Car covers are a great way to keep the sun and dirt off the exterior of your car while shielding the interior from sun damage.

As you prepare for your traveling this festive season, keep the following simple nuggets of wisdom in mind:
1. Lock the car doors during every journey you make and ensure that that your car windows are open partially, especially in town.
2. Keep your valuables - laptop, handbag, mobile phone - out of sight.
3. If traveling with your children ensure they have their safety belts in place.
4. Make sure you stop for the police. It does not harm to ask for identification through a closed window and keep the engine running until you are satisfied they are genuine.
5. Beware of anyone who tries to signal that there's something wrong with your car, unless you know they're right and it is dangerous to drive on.
6.Do not give lifts to strangers.
