It pains when stolen vehicles are being shared in social media.
It hurts to hear very few get recovered.
It disturbs in social gatherings when one has to walk out to check whether the vehicle is still at the parking.

The Relay Attack method is the latest technology in use to steal vehicles.
The attacker (thief) only needs to present the relaying antenna Infront of the door handle.
Once the door is unlocked, the thief brings the antenna inside the vehicle.
After pushing the break pedal or the start button the car sends the start button to the key.
Your vehicle is driven off to the thief's preferred destination for dismantling or otherwise. The GPS signal jammer in his procession stops any signal to the tracking device that would otherwise trace the vehicle.

Why the PAVAD?
Security systems are made for varying purposes.
ALARMS are installed to keep off and intruder by triggering the siren , unfortunately they are disabled.
CUT OUT units are installed to ensure the unauthorised driver cannot drive off , but then no thief look for the switch they know where to get the wires leading to the switch.
TRACKERS are installed to monitor the device location not necessarily the vehicle...this is what no one will tell you...when the tracker gets removed and is left in Mai Mahiu the signal guides you there while the vehicle is in Nairobi. Once the GPS signal is jammed you may not be able to stop the vehicle despite having been shown the commands.
The Shackle gear lock has been safe for years till recently when the flat bar holding the lock is being cut using small portable glinders that are rechargeable leaving the gear lever as it were before fitting.
Manufacturers install electronic security in keyless vehicles...key fobs are being duplicated in minutes...Relay attack theft is equally in place reason why your fob is with you but vehicle is gone!
