UPDATE ON CRSP 2025 – VEHICLE TAXES IN DISPUTE
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) had planned to roll out the 2025 Current Retail Selling Price (CRSP) for imported used vehicles on 1st July 2025. But the proposed tax values were significantly higher — sparking immediate backlash from industry players.
Two legal petitions were filed:
Kisumu Case No. HCCHRPET/E018/2025 (Elizabeth Akinyi vs State Law Office & KRA)
Court Order: Stopping CRSP 2025 implementation
Mention Date: 17th July 2025, Court 2, Justice Hon. Joe M. Omido
Mombasa Petition No. E021 of 2025 (Car Importers Association vs KRA & Others)
Court Order: CRSP 2025 halted
Ruling Date: 25th July 2025
Until the court rules, the industry continues to use CRSP 2019.
