When I had my '81, I took time and installed an overkill stereo and sound deadening.

Eclipse CD3000 directly controlling a 120G ipod.
2 xtant 301a 300w monoblocks. Each pushing a single EU-700 6.5" Subwoofers.
Fronts were powered by an xtant 302b 50x2 powering the Pioneer REV 6.5 coaxes.

The subs were in a very small fiberglass box built into a factory void in the car. They were taking double their rated power like champs. It got down to ~30hz before falling off and was a strong tight bass down to that point.

For what it was, it surprised a lot of people and I loved it.

I still have the 301as and a couple pair of these subs... hmm...

Fast and Furious: Daikoku

There are several F&F clone cars in the Tokyo area. Spotted these 3 roll into Daikoku together. One of the drivers was Brazilian. Said they had models coming for a photoshoot.

I love a nice Z. While not the nicest I saw in Japan, this was certainly up there on the list.

Spotted this Fairlady Z at Daikoku.

Just one of a large number of cars I still have to post about from this trip.

Many remember that Chevy made several prototype Chevettes with V6s. The press raved about them back in the day. Rumor is that they were TOO GOOD and would have stolen thunder from some of GM's fast cars.

Fewer remember that GM built a prototype turbo charged car or two. This Car Craft Magazine article from 1978 says it had "almost 40% more horsepower." That would be a hefty jump and would have definitely changed some peoples minds about them. But, probably also would have stolen some thunder from GM's fast cars.

I recently registered my Brazilian Chevette in Florida after moving from Indiana. I found out that Indiana made even more mistakes than I realized when they titled and registered it originally.

As soon as I opened the first title from Indiana, I saw that they had it down as a Chevelle. That would make it the only 1980 Chevelle in existence. I did eventually have that fixed and also transferred from my wife's name to mine. (since it was titled in her name in Brazil, taxes were cheaper to transfer title it in her name)

Well, when I went to register it in Florida, we found out that the odometer reading in Indiana was recorded in MILES. It is actually Kilometers. It would be a painful process to argue with Indiana to get it fixed and wouldn't be able to register or drive the car until it was. So, I took the only other option and mileage is now marked as exempt. (honestly wouldn't be surprised if it had been rolled over once. No Brazilian documentation indicated that it had though.)

People have been asking about these, so I wanted to share an update and see how much real interest there is.

This would be a full set of NEW Chevrolet Chevette control arms — upper and lower — including all bushings and lower ball joints.

These are Brazilian market so lower ball joints are different (bigger/beefier). Crosses with the Opel Manta A for future replacements. The upper arms are compatible with North American upper ball joints. So, get your favorite from your local parts store to encourage them to keep them available.

I have spoken directly with Nakata. Their MOQ through US distribution is unfortunately much higher than what makes sense for our niche. Ordering from Brazil would require a 45-set minimum, which would put pricing at roughly $500 per set once everything is factored in.

Through another supplier, the MOQ would be closer to 70 sets, but pricing improves to approximately $400–$450 per set at that volume. I may be able to reduce the effective MOQ slightly by combining the order with other parts this supplier can provide.

If purchased one set at a time, I can source them now and they would be approximately $600 per set.

Pre-orders are what make the best pricing possible. I’m trying to gauge how many people would seriously be interested in moving forward with a 50% deposit so I can determine which option makes the most sense.

I don’t believe these numbers are unreasonable, but I also don’t have the ability to purchase a large batch outright and hold inventory long-term. I don't expect to preorder out a full 40 or 70 sets. I would do the rest and keep them in stock if demand looks solid enough. But, given the MOQ, this could be a one time thing.

These prices are based on rough estimates for freight to get it from Brazil to Florida by boat and includes shipping from me to you. (Canada would be a bit higher 20-30USD?) Final pricing pending final shipping quotes.

It's not every day you have somewhere between 1.5 and 9+ million dollars sitting in front of you. (1.5-2 is the going rate for the normal version. Aluminum body version is 4-9+ I didn't touch it to figure out which one this was)

How many people have seen an Isuzu Gemini, North American Chevette, Brazilian Chevette, and a Buick Opel by Isuzu in person?

How many of those have also seen an Isuzu Impulse and an Isuzu Piazza?

Add in, one of those Piazza being signed by the designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro...
