Ferrari had promised to reveal the replacement model to the 599 GTB Fiorano on 29 February 201
and staying true to its commitment, the prancing horse is out with it’s brand new road car, which is called the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and is the fastest ever road car, coming out of Ferrari's factory. The normally aspirated V12 revs all the way to 8,700rpm. The 0 to 100kmph flight is completed in mere
3.1 seconds. Like the 599, the F12 is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive and two-seater GT supercar. The drive to the rear wheels is sent by the latest F1 seven-speed dual clutch transmission, the gear ratios of which have been developed specifically for this car. While the power output has been tweaked dramatically on one hand, the fuel consumption and CO2 emission have decreased proportionally on the other hand. Fuel economy is claimed to have been improved by more than 10 per cent over the 599's 15.8mpg figure to 188mpg and CO2 emissions has decreased from 415gkm to 350g/km. Ferrari's traditional transaxle layout has been revolutionized in the F12 to perfect the extreme performance of the car. This translated into shortened wheelbase compared to the 599 GTB and the engine, dashboard and seats lowered in the cassis. Moreover, the rear volume of the car has been reduced, thanks to the new layout of the rear suspension and gearbox. Ferrari states the F12 weighs 1,150kg (dry weight) with a 46/54 front to rear weight distribution. The compact high-performing car measures 1,515mm in length, 6,372 in width and 4,172 in height. The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta will take its first official public bow at the upcoming 2012 Geneva Motor Show, which will kick start next week. The cost of the brand new Ferrari F12 has not been revealed yet but the company has reported that the bookings of the F12 will commence during at the Geneva Motor Show. The right-hand drive versions are expected to hit the market in early 2013.
