Q: is copying theft?
So someone has just come out with a new product to solve a Lambretta problem that has existed for 60 years and your first reaction is "I can copy that and make a load of money", what does that make you?
I can think of a few choice words: maybe you can add your own below.
These Eccentric Brake Pin kits are available to the trade if people want to sell them, but sometimes a little bit of profit isn't enough. They are so greedy that they'd rather take someone else's good idea and make it on their own.
This is the sort of idea you might only get if you ride Lambrettas your whole life and s**t back brakes annoy you so much you finally put your mind to an easy, affordable solution.
That's why I developed and tested the Eccentric Brake Pin idea, working on prototypes with the guys Casa Performance, testing them on different bikes, simplifying what was a complex design and sussing out what needed to go into the kit to do the job this way after a Eureka moment. No parasite will ever need to put that work in, because it's all been done by someone else. They don't have to write instructions, take photos, make videos or send samples out for testing. They just have to get one and copy it.
I had notification from fellow scooterists - people who actually love and ride scooters - that there is someone well-known in the UK planning to copy this system. It's disappointing, but not unexpected.
I've had to fight people copying my ideas before. Let's see how this pans out.
