Testa STG-B per RS660.
Per i più curiosi metto un pò di foto dei dettagli nei commenti 😋

82mm "STRADA" overbore pistons for the 660 platform are here!

Those +1mm piston kit share the same design or the "PISTA" piston, but keeping compression ratio almost stock and the 3 rings setup.
Piston top and first ring groove are still hard-anodized to give a better wear resistance and heat barrier.

The overbore allows for 675cc final displacement.

This piston kit is designed for fast street rides and to repair blocks with damaged cylinder liners giving oem-like reliability.

Stock liners are iron-made so overbore is not so hard not involving Nikasil plating... too bad Aprilia itself never made bigger pistons to fit... but we are here for you, no?

They can be used in any 660 engines, any model year, including Tuareg's. Here attached a dyno print-out of a 675cc Tuareg assembled with this piston kit VS a stock bike, both running the stock exhaust.

on today's episode of Gabro R&D: Aprilia RS457 Engine Kit-A is finally ready!

Here a photo dump :D

457 engines are mechanically detuned using a low lift intake cam. Ex cam lifts 9mm while IN cam only lifts 7mm.

January 2025 i've fitted to my test bike 2x exhaust cams and got very nice results, but it's not a very practical mod... to be fitted on the intake side the second exhaust cam must be modified, moreover the timing locating pin will be rotated my 180° needing a custom timing on degree wheel and dial gauges everytime.

Fast forward 16 months I finally have my first cams production ever :) here pictured production intakes vs std intake cam... easy to spot which one is detuned.

Production cam is also an improvement over the twin ex-cam setup, giving a way better top-end.

Spent some time on intake stacks and mapping: attached graph shows gain compared to the stock engine config (with the same Arrow Exhaust and Sprint air filter). It's a solid 5hp gain, it means roughly +10% in performances.
Bonus track: the graph also shows AFR as sniffed at tail pipe (i'm using 3 widebands)... thin AFR plot is the normal UpMap RACE map applied to the stock engine (for the one thinking canned maps are not good enough and local dyno guy can do better).

Next week 3x cams will be delivered to the US and NZ for racing teams to collaborate on long term tests.
Some tech infos:- Cam is billet and hardened
- It has a locating dowel pin as the stock cam has, dyno test above is done at stock timing marks. Custom timing can improve power plot further, but it is basically a drop-in cam. V2P clearance is fine with the stock valve/head/piston.
- The cam base circle is very similar to the stock cam. It means valve clearances do not change much. This test engine had 0,13mm clearances on intake running the stock cam, it went to 0,18mm on the Kit cam. Sent on the dyno it as is, a bit loose, while I've ordered +0,05 thicker lifter buckets to swap at next check.
- engine still idles perfectly and runs very smoothly at low rpm and low throttle too..
- the use of the specific upmap map is mandatory: due to the extra air flow, extra fuel is needed... like 12-15% more fuel at top end. That cam can't be used on tunes made for stock engines

Recently, I was hit with the sentence:
“Your way is not THE WAY… is just A WAY.”

All I can reply is: no.

My scope of work is to design the best possible products. They are “the way” by design and by true intent.

Every part I design is made to offer the best possible solution to meet user demand: optimal fitment, optimal performance, optimal reliability, and last—but not least an optimal integration with the rest of the bike, especially when specific ECU maps are required.

A crucial factor in achieving this is that I am fully dedicated to Aprilia bikes only.

I spend all my time working on just a few models; I need to know in extreme depth the vehicle I'm working on in order to do my stuff. I have been doing this for more than twenty years now, since I bought my first RSV in 2002.

I actively develop parts myself, and I also install and operate them on my race bikes finding fist had their weak spots.

When I don’t design parts directly, I take an active role in helping other companies develop theirs. Every day, premium Italian aftermarket manufacturers contact me for guidance on specific Aprilia needs ranging from billet controls to fairings, from electronics to data logging and exhaust systems.

This is where integration truly makes the difference in user experience: How many times have you installed a part that didn’t match the rest of your setup, forcing endless modifications just to solve interferences?

That doesn’t happen here. Everything works smoothly, down to the smallest detail.

I will be very happy the day a competitor makes a product globally better than mines: so far, that has never happened.

This is THE WAY.
Better yet this is MY WAY.

It's dedication, it's obsession, it's my pride and joy.

Merry Christmas to everyone.
Haters included.
