Detailing, to put is simply, is the process of restoring and protecting a vehicle interiors and exteriors. The process has multiple steps/ stages that have been briefly explained below. The Paint is the skin of the car, it defines how it looks. Every day, as you use the car or even just keep it in your parking, the car is exposed to the elements. These include dust, pollution, acid-rain, hard-wate
r, small stones, plant branches, road grime, tar, oil, etc.! (Phew, that’s a long list). Even as a new car is sitting in the dealer warehouse, which are typically an open warehouse and almost always a non paved surface – there are going to be scratches and swirls. Most of us have a person to clean our car, typically our building watchman or someone else. They use a piece of cloth, if you are really lucky a good quality wash cloth or then it is just a discarded cloth like your old T-shirt. As this guy cleans multiple cars, they take water from the society tap, which very often is ground water from the bore well. He dips the cloth in and ‘washes’ the car. This cloth, which is probably not washed for months, contains fine dust – remember he probably uses the same cloth across cars! Over time fine scratches are made on the car surface due to these fine dust particles. Your car will look dull and old. The shiny car which you got from the showroom now starts to look like a matt finish. The shine is gone; there are random stray marks on the car paint.
