Most Honda Civics which manufactured from 2006-2009 are known to have issues with the speedometer. These are very common and they can only be solved either by replacing the speedometer or repairing it. Finding new ones in 2021 is very hard and expensive as you can only rely on buying used ones which will take you back again to these same issues.

Some of the issues which comes up are :

1) Speedometer goes blank, fuel guage doesn't work, temperature guage doesnt work

2) RPM meter malfunctions

3) Even when the car is switched off the speedometer still lights up and continues to drain the battery.

This particular civic came with the 3rd issue which is mentioned above. This is caused due to excess moisture content is the speedometer therefore leading to corrosion. Cleared all the corrosive elements changed a few ICs and the car is kept on inspection for a few nights to see how it is. Stay tuned...
