Advancing space sustainability through India–Japan collaboration
Samtel Avionics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with BULL Co., Ltd., Japan, to jointly explore technologies for mitigating the growing challenge of space debris.
Signed at Bengaluru Space Expo 2026, the collaboration brings together BULL’s passive Post-Mission Disposal technologies and Samtel’s Active Space Debris Removal Vehicle technology. The companies will evaluate their integration with satellite platforms and debris-removal systems, along with potential opportunities for future development and commercialisation.
The MoU was signed by Mr Puneet Kaura, Managing Director & CEO, Samtel Avionics, and Mr Yasuhito Uto, CEO & Founder, BULL Co., Ltd., who joined virtually. Mr Masakazu Koyanagi, Vice President – Corporate Development, represented BULL at the ceremony.
The occasion was attended by senior representatives from NSIL, IN-SPACe, JAXA and the wider space ecosystem.
For Samtel, the MoU represents an important progression of its technology capabilities - from decades of experience in defence avionics and advanced electronics to an expanding presence in satellite and space technologies.
It also reinforces the role of international collaboration in developing practical solutions for safer, more responsible and sustainable space operations.
