Brief History and General Introduction of Automobile:-

An automobile is a self-propelled vehicle that travels on land. It consists of an internal combustion engine which provides the power and the vehicle runs on the wheels. The primary function of an automobile is to carry people and goods from one place to another. All bikes, cars, truck etc. include in it.

History of automobile:-

>First steam carriage built by Richard Trevithick in 1801 in England.

>In the year 1860, first internal combustion engine is developed by J.J.E. Lenoir. He used coal gas as fuel. There is no compression stroke before burring of fuel.

>In the year 1867, Nikolaus Otto and Eugen Langer used compression stroke in that engine so the power of engine will increase.

>In the year 1876, Nikolaus Otto developed first four stroke spark ignition engine.

>After this several engineers (Dugald Clerk, James Robson and Karl Benz) developed two stroke engine.

>In the year 1880, Karl Benz in Germany developed a tricycle propelled by an internal combustion engine.

>In the year 1892, Rudolf Diesel developed first four stroke compression ignition engine.

>In the year 1920 a stratified charge engine developed which can run on both petrol and diesel. Ricardo developed a jet ignited stratified charged engine.

>In the year 1957 Wankel developed a rotary type internal combustion engine.

What is a Glow Plug & what does it do?

Diesel engines, unlike petrol engines which rely on a spark to ignite the air-fuel mixture, function due to the auto-ignition of diesel fuel when subjected to high pressures. Under high pressure, the temperature of the diesel fuel increases to a point where the fuel self-combusts. In cold weather however, this temperature is not always achieved and glow plugs assist by heating the air-fuel mixture to assist in cold starting.

Put simply, glow plugs are small heaters.

Hot cars can kill dogs
The UK may be a nation of dog lovers, but it seems we are still putting man’s best friend at risk as a survey by Dogs Trust, reveals that over 66% of people have seen a dog locked in a car on a sunny day yet over a third of them did nothing about it.
With temperatures easily reaching over 40 degrees in some parked vehicles, dogs could die within minutes so Dogs Trust joins to target motorists and visitors with their “Hot Cars Can Kill Dogs” awareness campaign.
The survey also reveals that 15% of those questioned called the police when they saw a dog locked in the car, 49% tried to alert the driver and 4% actually broke into the car to rescue the dog.

Advice to motorists
Never leave your dog alone in the car - even if it seems cool outside it can become very hot very quickly. Parking in the shade and/or keeping the windows down does not make it safe!
Make sure you keep your dog as cool as possible when driving: avoid travelling during the heat of the day, use sun blinds on the windows and consider opening a window a little to allow a cooling breeze to circulate in the vehicle
Make sure you have a supply of water and know where you can stop off on route for water breaks. Dogs are not able to cool down as effectively as humans so could suffer from heat stroke and dehydration very quickly
