For optimum performance, the engine needs to attain certain operating temperature.
To achieve this, coolant recirculates in the engine when cold until it attains certain temperature where the thermostat will open and allow coolant to flow through the radiator.
Air blows through the radiator fins allowing heat from the coolant to escape to the air with the help of a cooling fan.
To avoid coolant attain its boiling point, the system should be under pressure.
The pressure is relieved by the radiator cap to the expansion tank where it is cooled and later returns to the radiator for recirculation.
The coolant pump/impeller is responsible for the recirculation of the coolant through the system.
If the system is not working effectively it could result to alot of issues including blown head gasket and piston seizure.

Anti lock brake system uses ABS sensors located in each wheel to monitor the speed of the wheel and send this information to the ABS control module which continuously and repeatedly applies optimum braking pressure to each wheel, meaning the system will brake just enough to not lock the wheels.
