Last year we all wondered, what will we do for 2025? September 2025 would mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of John Britten. Past anniversary events have been totally successful and unique and trying to come up with something as good or possibly even better was proving to be a tough order. Various ideas had been floated but nothing was really jumping out at us and time was ticking by.
Then early in 25 a knight in shining armour rode over the horizon with the idea of creating a new museum honouring the Britten story and the generous offer of financial assistance to make it all happen. This knight came in the form of Mike Pero, a well known Kiwi identity and six times NZ motorcycle champion. He assembled a small dedicated team and created a charitable trust to handle the museums affairs combined with gathering up a very generous group of donor companies offering products and services.
In September 2025, 30 years after John Brittens passing, the news was announced to a great reception globally. This was a fantastic thing not just for Britten fans around the world and the people of Christchurch but for New Zealand. The main theme isn’t just the Britten Motorcycle story but to show that you can live your dreams and create great things when up against big challenges.
We ask that you show your support by following the new museums page attached and watch it as it develops and comes to life. This is going to be something very special for us all.
