A ten year old orphan living under a staircase in his aunt's house constantly bullied, eternally ignored, and wearing ill-fitting hand me downs
who has no discernible ability, nothing he is better than average at. In most cases, this is charcter work gold, but not for Joanne Katherine Rowling.
The orphan is Harry Potter who sees things other's do not. Can converse with snakes, grow a full head of hair overnight, make things happen just by wishing them to. Even in the fantasy world most pre-pubescent children live in, this was not normal.
The only memory he has of his life with his parents is a blinding green flash. His aunt has even disallowed a mention of her sister and ,as she puts it, good for nothing brother in law.
Until a gigantic man with what appears to be a speaking disability breaks down a door and announces to him and his adoptive family, "Yer a wizard Harry" that the orphan's life turn upside down( for the better).
He joins Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Entering a magical world where wands create spells, dragons exist, motorcycle fly and goblins run a wizarding bank. In this new world, much to his surprise, Harry is a celebrity like no other. Every man, woman and child knows his name. And he finally finds something he is good at - Quidditch. A sport where broomsticks fly and balls have a mind of their own.
With all the majesty of this world Harry has stepped in come dangers unknown. Three headed dogs that kill with a single bite, werewolves and above all " Lord Voldemort or "He Who Must Not Be Named" - the greatest dark wizard of all time who had, according to general consensus, met his downfall at the hands of Harry himself.
With Voldemort trying to get back to his old power right under the nose who the only one he ever - Albus Dumbledore who is the headmaster of Hogwarts - the only place Harry Potter feels at home.
