Three photographs, most of a half a century apart.

Photograph (1) Sulekha (26) Sudhakar (28) On our Army disposal RE Bullet 350, fully overhauled & mildly customised. On a ride around Tamilnadu & parts of Karnataka. 1980 ride! Off and on there were two other motorcycles, but we finished solo.

Two photographs about 46 years apart: John Sudhakar & Mrs Sulekha Sudhakar. Riding RE Old Cast Iron Bullets long distance remains our most interesting & 'indulged in' activity!

(1) Sulekha 25 & Sudhakar 27, on a 3000 km / 17 day ride around South India. The motorcycle bought at an Army Disposal auction and customised / restored.

(2) Fast forward 46 years, Sulekha 71 & Sudhakar 73 on a 5,200 kms / 43 day ride to photograph the Forts and Palaces of Rajasthan.

The roads remain open and the journey hasn't ended!

Motoverse 2024 was an eyeopener for us.

We rode 2,000 kms to and from this festival solo, we travelled unknown roads & terrain and returning we rode thru a cyclonic storm! Fortunately not thru it's fury! We enjoyed and loved it all!!!

However the most interesting was meeting a while lot of amazing people at Motoverse and outside the festival. It opened our eyes and gave us a vision to indulge in longer rides / trips. All of them solo!!!

When we left on the Rajasthan ride, our motorcycle's petrol tank was very hurriedly and improperly finished.

This tank is being re-done now. It is a tank that was made larger to hold about 17 litres of petrol. When it was made larger, we checked it for leaks and no leak showed up. But on the ride, due to a tight tank cap with an airtight (almost) rubber gasket, the paint around the mouth started blistering.

So now we are trying three things: (1) I have sealed all known cracks and crevices with Araldite. (2) I have made holes in the tank cap rubber gasket to let the petrol fumes escape. (3) I have also removed all the paint from the tanks mouth and will be sealing it with Araldite or paint clear coat PU material, or both. Waiting to see how it works out.

This is a perineal problem with tank repainting!!!

Rajasthan ride February 24th to April 7th 2026.

We will be posting few photographs from each of the locations we visited during our ride in Rajasthan. We rode more than 3,000 kms in Rajasthan alone! And an additional 2,000 kms back to chennai. Sudhakar 73 and Sulekha Sudhakar 71.

This presentation is not in any particular order. Initially, we didn't have an idea of how to photograph these amazing Forts and Palaces! So we start with some locations we photographed better! This is the beauty of Rajasthan as we saw it! Hope you like them.

Photographs cannot capture the grandeur of the massive and magnificent ancient archetecture of India. We could only try!!!

There are similar posts in our Insta a/c also. Maybe different photographs and different posts also. So kindly follow TBF The Bullet Factory in Instagram also, to get a more comprehensive idea of our rides! Thanks!

People we met while on the ride (5) Purnimaa & Co:

On our second last leg of the Rajasthan ride, with almost 5,000 kms done, while returning to Chennai we were enroute to Kadappa, when a red car reversed a long way and stopped just short of our motorcycle.

It turned out to be lady driver Poornima who was driving back from Hyderabad to Chitoor.

Seeing us she stopped and reversed more than half a kilometre to speak to us. Her parents and a neighbour kid were with her.

She wanted to buy a motorcycle, which her parents were against. We gave them whatever advice we could from our riding experiences over 45 years!!!

Wishing you happiness in whatever you do and safe travels always Purnimaa!

People we met on the ride (4) The Three Amigos.

While riding from Armour to Kadappa, we could not stop at any proper eating joint as we were either travelling too fast to stop or there was no proper parking or they had gravel on the approach.

Eventually at about 3.30 we checked out a new small restaurant and stopped for cool drinks and probably a snack. This turned out to be 'Amigos Dhaba' a highway restaurant.

Started by three childhood friends. Two of them were working and the other was looking after the restaurant.

We ordered some exotic chicken starter, for which the three Amigos really loaded the quantities. Mouth-watering dish which we had to pack half and carry with us for dinner!

Happy to have met these wonderful guys. Wishing them success and happy business together!

People we met on our rides (3) Francis, Patsy and Meghan.

On our way to Motoverse 2024, enroute from Tumkur to Belagavi, there were hardly any restaurants on the new highway. The two that were interesting were crowded and that meant delays.

We rode non stop for over 3 hours and when it seemed unlikely to find a restaurant, we stopped at a shady green spot to have a snack and water that we were carrying!

Being our first experience to Motoverse, like children we stood by the roadside giving a thumbs up and waving to every motorcycle that went by.

Turning the way the vehicles were travelling, we saw a white speck close to the horizon on the road that was rapidly growing bigger. It was Francis reversing from about a kilometre beyond, to meet us.

We then met Francis (the Selfie expert) Patsy (the cancer survivor) and Meghan their daughter. Since then they have visited us in Chennai and we met again at Motoverse 2025. A warm hearted family: they are avid travellers with 100s of thousands of kilometres of travel behind them, mostly on motorcycles, Enfield's and Harleys.

An abundance of affection, selfies & brownies and more from Pats!!! In the past they are known to have come by motorcycle from Bangalore to Mahabalipuram for a Masala Dosa!!! More power to you guys and stay well always!

People we met on the rides: 2. Bobbee Singh and Poornima.

In our first ride in this season i.e. Ride to Motoverse and beyond, we were happy and honoured to meet Bobbee Singhji of Old Delhi Motorcycles. One of the biggest names and greats of the Bullet Cast Iron models (1959 - 2009) Bobbee has defined pride and class in the original Indian Royal Enfield Motorcycle, the Bullet 350 and 500. (He has some strange concoctions too!)

An expert with Retro Customisations and unconditionally the best in sidecar building and commissioning, Bobbee turned out quite the opposite of what I had imagined him to be. Humble, fun loving and extremely helpful, I was in touch with him for a large part of our Rajasthan ride.

Thank you Bobbee! You are the best in your category!!!

People we met on our rides

(1) Siddhartha and Natasha Lal.

On our ride to Motoverse 2025 and beyond we met the person who single handedly brought back the Brand Royal Enfield and developed it to a global Brand. We met Siddhartha Lal and his wife Natasha Lal at Motoverse 2025 Vagator, Goa. We rode our Old Bullet 350 Cast Iron to this festival.

No small honour this!!! We were so dumbstruck with the magnitude of the person in relation with the immensity of Motoverse 2025, that we forgot to take a photograph or a selfie with the 'legend'. This is a photo from the previous Motoverse 2024.

Thanks Sid & Natasha for your good wishes and support!!!
