𝙎𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙤 𝙋𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝘽𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙯𝙚 𝙂𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜

October 31st took us to The Sligo Park Hotel for the Sligo Pallets Border Championship prize giving! A fantastic night of celebration, recognising the efforts and achievements of this years competitors and organisers. We were delighted to see multiple MDMC Members presented with awards.

Derek Molloy was awarded with 3rd Overall Navigator 2026!

David Healy was awarded with 1st Place Driver in Class 11F!

Brian Lavelle was awarded with 3rd Place Driver in Class 14!

Stephen McGing was recognised for his role as COC of Mayo Stages.

John Duffy, along with other members of the championship organising team, were recognised for their contribution to the championship over the years.

A very impressive feat from all our members! Well done to everyone who competed in the Championship!
We would also like to congratulate everyone involved with running this years Sligo Pallets BorderRally Championship and all who organised Saturday Nights Prize Giving.

𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙤 & 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙩 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝘾𝙡𝙪𝙗 𝟓𝟎𝙩𝙝 𝘾𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨

50 Years of Motorsport!

A fantastic night of nostalgia, awards, prizes and tributes was had at our 50th Celebrations on Sunday 25th of October! Our Night began with an address from our Club Chairman, (John) Junior Prendergast, followed by a congratulatory address from local TD Paul Lawless, in which he commended the volunteers, committees and members that have made our club what it is today.

After a terrific 3 course meal in The Park Hotel Kiltimagh, we kicked off our celebration with our Autocross Awards, brilliantly announced by our MC, Jarlath Sweeney. Following the Awards Ceremony, Jarlath called on multiple Long-Standing MDMC Members to discuss the history of the club, as well as their own experiences in motorsport throughout the years.

We finished the nights formalities with an exceptional raffle with fantastic spot prizes, for which we would like to sincerely thank our Prize Draw Sponsors :

All proceeds raised by our raffle went to The Foxford & District Alzheimer’s Trust.

After our raffle, Shay and Amy entertained us all late into the night with their music while we discussed and reminisced the history of the club and motorsport today, as well as looking through an extensive collection of John Duffy’s collection of Event Programmes and Photos from various Rally’s.

We would like to sincerely thank The Park Hotel Kiltimagh for the hospitality, venue and the meal. They went above and beyond to make our night special and momentous !

We would also like to thank the band, Shay and Amy, as well as Trish Forde for the fabulous photos she captured on the night! If only the photos could capture the memories we all shared.

Last but not least, we would like to thank Jarlath Sweeney for being our MC. This was no easy task and he did a remarkable job with his presentation and interviews.

Here’s to another 50 Years!

As we all know, rallying is teamwork, and it takes equally a good navigator to contribute to the efforts a driver puts in, and indeed, the information relayed can be the difference in winning and loosing.

Introducing our 3rd overall navigator Derek Molloy, it is with great joy to see Derek take this award, despite contesting his first rally back in 2008 the outings between then and now have been sporadic and very very limited indeed it was only 2 seasons ago he joined forces with Darren McGuinness, so when the plan to contest the full was hatched the outlook possibly didnt look so promising after retirement on round 1 in Mayo, but since then they have had an exceptional year with four wins and a bit like the drivers category a diminished starting line-up on the Donegal Harvest left a less than desired points tally, resulting in being 3rd and not 1st overall

However, that's the nature of championships, and it adds to the excitement, the intensity, and then uncertainty of whether I will win or not!

No doubt Darren and Derek could also have some unfinished business, and possibly they will have to return and see if they can wrestle the overall trophy home next season.

As always, thanks for the support for the championship, and we applaud you on the immense effort in achieving this great accolade

In conjunction with our Eco Run and 50th Anniversary Celebration - this past Sunday night we held our 2026 Autocross and MDMC Club Awards. While it is important to mark the achievements and accolades of competitors, it is equally important to recognise the hard work of our volunteers who go above and beyond in delivering safe and successful events throughout the year.

Our first series of awards were dedicated to our club members, who through thick and thin, were there to help out wherever they were needed.

In addition to our Autocross and Club Awards, we had the presentation of The Margaret McGreal Award to James Ronan and David Doherty, who were the fastest MDMC crew in the Mayo Stages Rally 2026. The Margaret McGreal Award was presented by James McGreal. Missing from photo - David Doherty.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to support the Margaret McGreal Memorial Eco Run on Sunday! The support was immense and we raised crucial funds for this years charity, The Foxford & District Alzheimer’s Trust!

𝑴𝑫𝑴𝑪 𝑴𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏

With The Margaret McGreal Memorial Eco Run and our Awards Night and 50th Anniversary Celebration, (photos and report soon to come!) taking place last Sunday, we can’t forget our MDMC members that competed this weekend in various events!

Ian Chambers was at the wheel of his Honda Civic with Ella Conway on the notes, competing in the Tipperary Stonethrowers Rally! The pair managed an impressive 10th in a very packed class 11f, and an overall finish of 81st !

Derek Molloy was on the notes for Andrew Burke in his Fiesta! The took home 7th in class 4 with an overall finish of 51st!

Bradley O’Donnell was on the notes for Colin Gray in his Ek4! The pair took home 3rd in class 1 with an overall finish of 70th!

Further afield to Portugal, Lorcan Moore was navigating yet again for Reis Suliman, competing in the ERC Rally Six Cities North of Portugal ! The pair finished 30th overall, and finished 4th in ERC4 ! Well done to the pair!

We’d also like to congratulate Tipperary Light Car & Motorcycle Club for the running of their fantastic event and well done to all competitors!
