Are Progressive springs genuinely better for a Honda Goldwing, or are stock springs getting blamed for problems they didn’t cause? The honest answer is that Progressive springs can improve support and comfort, particularly for two-up touring or heavier loads, but they are not a magic fix for worn dampers, poor setup or incorrect fitment. Stock springs may still be the sensible choice for a well-maintained GL1800 used mainly for solo riding, so the article weighs comfort, handling, cost and long-term value without treating every upgrade as essential. Would you choose Progressive springs for your Goldwing—or keep the OEM setup and spend the money elsewhere?

Can a Honda Goldwing tow a trailer safely, or is that extra luggage capacity hiding a serious compromise? The answer depends on your model, tow-rated equipment, trailer weight, tongue weight and braking setup—not simply whether the bike feels powerful enough. Our view: towing can make sense for long-distance touring, but no collection of Goldwing accessories or Goldwing GL1800 parts can excuse ignoring the manufacturer’s limits, handling changes and stopping distance. Would you tow with your Goldwing, or keep the trailer at home?

Still cleaning road grime off your Honda Goldwing after every wet ride? The right mudguards can do more for touring comfort and paint protection than another bit of decorative chrome, but fitment matters—especially with Goldwing GL1800 parts across different model years. OEM pieces offer dependable fit and factory styling, while a well-made aftermarket option may deliver better coverage without the premium price; neither is a substitute for sensible cleaning and maintenance. Which Goldwing mudguard has made the biggest difference to your bike—and was it worth the money?

Are your GL1800 wind deflectors actually working, or are they just bolted on and hoping for the best? Correct positioning and fitment can make a real difference to airflow, rain protection and passenger comfort, while a rushed installation may create noise, looseness or poor coverage. They’re a practical Honda Goldwing upgrade—not a substitute for checking model-year compatibility, and not every rider needs the most expensive option. Have your Goldwing wind deflectors improved touring comfort, or were they more trouble than they were worth?

Think your Honda Goldwing has a failed fuel pump? The pump may be getting blamed for a wiring fault, blocked filter, poor connection or another issue entirely—so replacing an expensive part first can be an expensive guess. Our guide explains how to find the real fault, when OEM parts justify the price and when a sound existing component should simply be tested properly. Has a “fuel pump failure” on your Goldwing turned out to be something else?

Buying Goldwing lights? Put the wiring on the shopping list first.

For a 2018-onwards Gold Wing, comparing the Goldstrike 48000 harness with the 48010 distribution block starts with the exact accessories you plan to fit. Check their connection requirements, identify any wiring already installed and consider the complete setup before ordering.

There is also a useful exception: Goldstrike’s 40035 reflector replacement light does not require the 48000 harness. ‘Plug-and-play’ still deserves a careful read of the fitting instructions.

Our new guide explains the two wiring options, why connector count is different from electrical capacity and what to record before the workshop job begins.

Read ‘Goldstrike 48000 vs 48010: Which Wiring Do You Need?’ on the Shinywing blog https://shinywing.com/blog/goldstrike-48000-vs-48010 . Save it for your next lighting upgrade.

Hot or cold? Your Goldwing’s coolant check depends on the instructions for its exact model year.
Honda’s 2010 and 2016 GL1800 owner’s manuals specify normal operating temperature for the reserve-tank check. The 2018 manual specifies a cold engine. That small detail is easy to miss when you move between generations or follow a general maintenance checklist.
Before reaching for a bottle, match the manual to your bike, identify the correct level reference and check under the specified conditions. A falling level deserves investigation, and a routine reserve-tank check never means opening a hot radiator cap.
Our new guide explains the verified examples, sensible record-keeping and what information helps when you contact the workshop.

Is your Honda Goldwing due for proper workshop attention, or are you just adding more chrome to avoid the boring jobs? Our Cork workshop guide focuses on the essentials first—correct fitment, dependable maintenance and practical improvements—before optional Goldwing accessories and Goldwing GL1800 parts. DIY work can save money, but professional help makes sense when diagnosis, safety or model-specific knowledge is involved. What would you prioritise first on your Goldwing: comfort, reliability or appearance?

New 2027 Gold Wing — but is it really a new bike?
Honda has confirmed the European 2027 Gold Wing range, and the honest answer is refresh, not reinvention. The Gold Wing Tour gets Iridium Gray Metallic, Graphite Black and eye-catching Allumage Blue Metallic, while the standard Gold Wing moves to a Gunmetal Black and Mat Ballistic Black finish.
The familiar 1,833cc flat-six, 2018-on chassis concept and established touring technology carry over. That is good news for riders who already value the current platform, but it does not mean every accessory labelled “2018+” is automatically verified for 2027.
Our new guide explains what changed, what did not, and the five fitment checks to make before ordering parts for a new model year. Read the full article before you buy. https://shinywing.com/blog/2027-honda-gold-wing-whats-new

Warm palms do not always mean warm fingers.

Heated grips are the convenient Goldwing solution: they are always on the bike, easy to adjust and ideal for cold Irish mornings. Heated gloves can warm a broader area of the hand, making them useful when the fingers remain cold despite plenty of grip heat.

Our new guide compares both options, explains their effect on controls and electrical load, and covers fitment considerations for the GL1500 1988–2000 and every GL1800 generation. It also looks at the Big Bike Parts Inferno 17-961 grip kit and why its “without stock heated grips” instruction matters.

The useful takeaway: choose for the riding you actually do, and never sacrifice throttle, lever or switch control for extra warmth.
