Back in 2020, when I started Looney's Pristine Detailing in Kilcormac, some thought leaving a stable job was risky. But I saw a future that others couldn't.
My passion for cleaning and detailing started long before the business. It began with my own motorcycles and project cars. I was always fascinated by bringing something back to life and achieving the best finish possible. What started as a hobby quickly became an obsession with learning, improving, and understanding every aspect of vehicle care.
When I started the business, I worked seven days a week for nearly eight months straight. Weekdays in a dealership and every evening, Saturday, and Sunday spent building Looney's Pristine Detailing from the ground up. There were long nights, sacrifices, and plenty of uncertainty, but I believed in the vision and kept pushing forward.
Back then, detailing wasn't nearly as well known as it is today. Many people simply washed their cars with whatever was available and never really thought about how to properly care for paintwork. One thing I've always enjoyed is educating people and sharing what I've learned. Whether it's explaining safe washing methods, paint protection, ceramic coatings, or simple maintenance tips, I genuinely enjoy helping people get the best from their vehicles.
I try to share as much knowledge as I can through my content. While I'm only one person, I do my best to cover all aspects of detailing and help enthusiasts and customers alike understand why proper vehicle care matters.
One thing I've always believed is that the day you stop learning is the day you stop growing. That's what I love about this industry. There is always something new to learn, new products to test, new techniques to master, and new ways to improve. No matter how much experience I gain, I'll always be a student of the craft.
I was never interested in being an in-and-out operation. From day one, my focus has always been quality over quantity. Even the valets I carried out in the early years were never just a quick wash and a spray wax. I always tried to go the extra mile and deliver the best result possible for every customer. Those valets became the foundation that eventually led me into paint correction, ceramic coatings, and the higher-end detailing work that I had always set my sights on.
Working on high-end vehicles today was always part of the long-term plan, but I never rushed into it. I focused on building experience, investing in training, investing in myself, and earning the trust of customers over time. The opportunities I have today are the result of years of patience, dedication, and constantly striving to improve.
Today, customers travel from well beyond Offaly, proving that location doesn't limit ambition. I'm incredibly grateful for every customer who has trusted me with their vehicle, as well as the successful business owners I've met along the way. Hearing how they started, the challenges they faced, and where they are today continues to motivate me and reminds me that every successful business starts somewhere.
When I look ahead to the next five years, I see growth. I see bigger opportunities, more high-end projects, continued investment in education and training, and continuing to raise the standards of my work. Building something on your own isn't easy, but everything achieved so far has come from backing myself, staying patient, and continuing to push forward.
What I saw for myself back in 2020 is becoming a reality today. What I see for the future is what drives me every single day.
The journey is far from over.
