The first car registered car in South Tipperary.
The car, HI-1, was registered in November 1903 and was owned by William P. and Dickie Burke, Grove, Fethard. The regular chauffeur of the car, a Gladiator 20-30 HP rear entrance Tonneau body, was Patrick Kenrick, Main Street, Fethard, who was also the first person to hold a driving licence. HI-1 is seen here with Messrs. William P. and Dicky Burke at the controls. They were reputed to have competed in the Gordon Bennett Race. Photo and info courtesy of the Kenrick collection.
