Having first considered adding disc brakes onto the rear axle I decided on a drum brake upgrade mainly to maintain a strong handbrake and to complement the Renault 21 disc brake upgrade on the front. Disc pads have less friction material surface area contact and in my opinion the drum brake lever mechanism produces a greater application force than disc caliper activation. The Renault 21 master cylinder will be fitted to complement my front brakes and now my rear brakes will parallel as well the Renault 21 system.
