Just because you can’t SEE anything coming doesn’t mean the road is clear. 👀

This learner was turning right while the truck was turning left, but the size of the truck restricted her view of what could potentially be coming from behind it.

A cyclist, motorcyclist or even another vehicle could be overtaking and completely hidden from view.

The safer option? Wait until the truck clears, make sure you have a proper view, and only move when you KNOW it’s safe.

If your view is blocked, don’t assume it’s clear. 🚗

Doing your driving test in Blanchardstown? 👀 You NEED to know this junction.

It’s right beside the Maple House test centre, meaning you could encounter it when you’re literally seconds away from finishing your test.

The biggest thing to watch for is traffic coming from your left. Visibility is limited because of the bend and trees, so you need to slow right down as you approach the broken line, look properly and give way if necessary.

Approach too quickly and you could suddenly meet a vehicle coming around the bend with very little time to react. 🚗

This learner handled it really well once she understood how the junction worked.

Remember, just because you can see the test centre doesn’t mean your test is finished.

Stay switched on until the car is parked. 👀

You might THINK you’re checking your blind spots… but are you actually? 👀

This is a really common mistake during the turnabout.

This learner does good observations before initially moving off, but when it comes to the reversing part, she’s looking through the side windows rather than actually looking over her shoulders into the blind spots.

She also needs to make sure she’s properly looking out through the back window before reversing.

Don’t just move your eyes, point your chin towards where you’re checking so the tester KNOWS you’ve properly done your observations.

Remember:

✅ Look over BOTH shoulders
✅ Check BOTH blind spots (Point Your Chin Where You’re Looking)
✅ Look out the back window
✅ Make sure it’s safe before you reverse

Don’t just move your eyes, turn your head and point your chin where you’re looking 🚗🇮🇪

A hill start might seem simple, but there’s a lot the examiner is watching 👀

This learner picked up two minor faults and one potential fail mark during this hill start, from where she stopped, to the timing of her observations and how she moved off.

The biggest lesson? If you’ve been waiting before moving off, check again. Your observations need to be fresh before you go 🚗
