A huge thank you to IWAI Kildare for inviting us to present at your rally this weekend.
One of the highlights of the weekend was hearing stories from attendees who remember 107.B from years gone by. Several people shared memories, anecdotes, and even mentioned photographs they have of the boat. We are always keen to learn more about 107.B's history, and it was wonderful to hear these personal connections to the barge.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop by, listen, and show their support. Your interest and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated, and we look forward to sharing more updates as the project continues.

The following passage was in an edition of Canaliana, the Robertstown Festa annual in 1972 describing 107.B’s time in Robertstown.
“The Muinter na Tire Council has surpassed itself in making its portion of the canal a living entity by converting an old barge into a sumptuous passenger boat . The Emily (107.B)is now very much in business bringing guests for banquets from Bonynge Bridge to the hotel”.
Thanks to Paul O'Kane and Allen Area Historical & Heritage group for the photos

Even the rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the return crew for Barge 107.B ☔️
John, Shauna,Brendan and Michael guided the barge back to Shannon Harbour after attending the weekend at the River Heritage Weekend. The barge performed superbly and crew all got the chance to handle the tiller.

A wonderful first run for Barge 107b to Shannonbridge for the river heritage weekend. She performed like a dream under the guidance of Graham Bartlett, Liam Madden, Tom Doheny and Brendan Lawlor. Thank you to the accompanying boats - Donal Boland and Damien Buckley. It was a sweet moment after a year of blood, sweat and tears. Pop in to say hi if you are in Shannonbridge this weekend.

Ever wondered how a dry dock actually works? 🤔

It's basically a giant bathtub for boats.

At Shannon Harbour, the empty dock is filled from the canal side by lifting small panels in the gate. Once full, the main gate is lifted and the boat floats in.

Concrete blocks on the floor support the hull as the water is gently released through sluices at the far end, leaving the boat high and dry and ready for work on the hull, paintwork and propeller.

Yesterday we did a partial flood - just enough water to nudge the barge forward a few feet and resettle it, so a new section of hull could be worked on by the team at Marine Fabrication Solutions Ltd 🚢

Simple, clever, 200-year-old engineering.

ITS ALIVE!!!!

Over the last month, the team has been working away on a new engine for 107.B

We were fortunate enough to source a very good second hand Perkins M130C. Huge thanks to Damien Buckley and Brad Hansbury Marine Fabrication Solutions Ltd for collecting and fitting the engine.

Although we have the engine up and running, there is still some work to be done with controls and gauges but this will be sorted by our team in the coming weeks!

History was made yesterday!

107.B with her new engine and a motley crew, motored in to dry dock for the first time over 20 years 😁

This dry dock stint will see three large plates go on the bow section and touch up paint to do. We also took off the propeller which was delivered to Rosslare for some TLC!
