Just Martini, no ICE
The name Lancia has historically been synonymous with technological innovation: pioneering monocoque construction, the narrow-angle V4 in the Lambda of 1922, aerodynamics in the Aprilia, the Cx 0.47 of 1937, the independent suspension in the Ardea of 1939, the V6 in the Aurelia of 1950, the revolutionary volumex turbo system in the S4, twenty years before Volkswagen “rediscovered” it. And yet, from the four pillars of Lancia philosophy, one remains largely unmentioned: the aesthetic transformation of racing colors—from blue to red in Martini livery, from green to red in Alitalia, or the traditional eight red cylinders of the ’50s.
Most younger enthusiasts have identified the name Lancia with the Integrale, perhaps also with images of the Group B Stratos and the 037
Lancia Delta integrale EVO Martini. A car that ICE simply cannot preserve for long.
