🇬🇷 March 25th in Greece – A Special Day in Athens!

Today, Greece celebrates one of its most important national holidays! March 25th marks the Greek War of Independence (1821), when Greeks began their fight for freedom after centuries of Ottoman rule.

If you’re in Athens, don’t miss the impressive military parade in the city center 🇬🇷—a proud and emotional event with soldiers, aircraft, and traditional costumes filling the streets.

It’s also a religious celebration (Annunciation), so the day combines history, faith, and tradition.

And of course… we celebrate with food! 😋
The traditional dish of the day is fried salted cod (bakaliaros) served with skordalia (garlic dip). Even people who are fasting enjoy this special meal!

If you’re visiting Athens, today is the perfect chance to experience authentic Greek culture, history, and flavors all in one day.

✨ Enjoy the celebrations and feel the Greek spirit!

The Corinth Canal: Greece’s Engineering Marvel

The Corinth Canal, carved through solid rock, is a stunning waterway connecting the Aegean Sea to the Ionian Sea. Here's what makes it extraordinary:

Length: 6.4 km (4 miles) of narrow beauty.

Width: Just 21 meters wide, making it accessible to smaller ships.

History: Completed in 1893 after centuries of planning since ancient Greece!

Purpose: Saves ships a 700-km journey around the Peloponnese peninsula.

A breathtaking blend of history and engineering, the canal is a must-see landmark for adventurers and history buffs alike!

The theatre of Epidaurus represents the finest and best-preserved example of a classical Greek theatre. It was built in 330-20 BC. The theatre is marvelled for its exceptional acoustics. Any sound on the open-air stage, whether a stentorian voice or a whisper, a deep breath or the sound of a match struck is perfectly audible to all spectators, even in the topmost row of seats, that is, nearly 60 m away. Once again in use today, from July until August the ancient monument floods with theatre devotees during the annual summer Festival of Epidaurus!
