It's been estimated that 50% lose their lives in road accidents because they refuse to buckle up their seat belts. Others think airbags are enough to protect them; in fact, the force of an airbag can seriously injure or even kill you if you’re not buckled up.

Follow these dos and don’ts to save your life and others, whether it's a passenger or a private car.
1./ Always adjust to a comfortable, upright position, keeping as much distance as possible between your belly and the steering wheel. Minimise the gap between your shoulder and the seatbelt, avoiding reclining your seat more than necessary. Avoid letting your belly touch the steering wheel.
2./ Now buckle up. The lap belt and shoulder belt must be secured across the pelvis and rib cage, which are better able to withstand crash forces than other parts of your body. Place the shoulder belt across the middle of your chest, and away from your neck. The lap belt must rest across your hips, not your stomach. NEVER put the shoulder belt behind your back or under an arm.
