You know those trucks that look like they mean business until you actually ask them to do some business?
This DAF LF 18-tonner was one of those.

Somebody has slipped a tiny little Cummins engine in it from what felt like a retired 7.5 tonner that used to deliver bread rolls to garden centres.

Flat road? It managed.
Slight incline? It entered a period of deep personal reflection.

You’d put your foot down and get more noise than movement. The turbo screamed like it was fighting for its life while cyclists overtook it giving sympathetic looks. At one point a milk float nearly undertook us.

Loaded up, the thing couldn’t pull the skin off rice pudding.
You’d hit a hill and watch the speedometer slowly negotiate a surrender:
“40… 35… 28… you know what, let’s just put the hazards on now.”

Changing gear became less of a driving technique and more of a hostage negotiation.

Then came the VTS treatment.

We worked our magic on it like truck therapists:
“Come on son, you are an 18-tonner. Believe in yourself.”

Suddenly the throttle actually did something. Hills stopped being major historical events. The truck discovered overtaking was possible, and the engine no longer sounded like a Dyson trying to tow a bungalow.

It still wasn’t exactly a race truck, nobody was entering it into Le Mans m, but at least now it could pull away from traffic lights without causing resentment from the entire county behind it.

The owner of this Volvo EC140 had already been through the pain… nearly £3,000 spent with Volvo, yet the machine was still sat there sulking in derate mode like a teenager asked to do chores.

By the time we got the call, the customer was equal parts frustrated, confused, and wondering if the excavator had developed a personal vendetta against productivity.

A few hours later, after some proper diagnostics and a bit of mechanical detective work, and some ECU magic, we had the issue sorted, the machine running properly again, and the customer finally able to breathe without hearing warning alarms in his sleep.

We left site with the Volvo EC140 back to full health, the customer smiling again, and probably a few less grey hairs than when we arrived.

If the socials have been a bit quiet lately, it’s usually because I’m knee deep in ECUs, coffee, and vehicles of every shape and size getting remapped. 🚗💨

This lovely VW Transporter received the Vehicle Tuning Solutions treatment a few weeks ago and left with an extra 35hp and 90nm of torque… which is probably more motivation than most people have on a Monday morning.

Safe to say it’s now pulling a bit harder and smiling a bit wider.

If you’ve been thinking about getting your car, van, truck or anything with wheels and an engine tuned up, don’t hesitate to get in touch with any enquiries.

This 72 plate Transit had a serious problem… it drank AdBlue like it was on a night out.

With a long trip to Spain coming up, the owner decided enough was enough time for an intervention.

In it sat the stubborn SID212 ECU, a unit that had locked us out 2020.

But not today.

Tools ready, laptop plugged in… connection established.

A few tweaks later and the Transit’s drinking habit was officially under control.

No more constant top-ups. No more drama.

Just one calm, reformed van, ready for Spain without stopping for a “quick drink” every 50 miles.

Another day, another Vauxhall Grandland from the PSA group… and yes, the infamous MD1CS003 ECU strikes again (honestly, we should start charging it rent at this point).

This one rolls in with the dash doing a lovely little countdown… not to a holiday, not to payday. But to no start.

Owner says, “It was on 200 miles yesterday… now it’s nearly at zero.”
Great. So instead of a fuel gauge, we’ve now got a doom gauge.

Sure enough, the car’s basically threatening, “Fix me… or I’m not moving again.” Bit dramatic, but alright.

We pop over, give it our usual treatment, a bit of know-how, a touch of magic, and before you know it… countdown gone, car fired up like nothing ever happened.

MD1CS003: 0
Us: Still undefeated.

Customer back on the road, crisis averted, and no vehicles harmed in the making of this repair.

Moral of the story: if your car starts counting down instead of up… it’s not motivation, it’s a warning and you should give us a ring ASAP!

Our customer took a leap of faith, swapping his trusty old Toyota Hilux for a Volkswagen Amarok.

But if we’re honest… his heart was still with the Hilux.

The Amarok had the power, the comfort, the V6 growl, yet something just wasn’t clicking. He wasn’t feeling that love. You know, the kind where you look back at it in the car park.

So before he started browsing Hilux ads again, he gave us a shout.

We sorted the niggles before they turned into a wallet draining drama… and then we worked a little magic. An extra 65bhp and 100Nm of torque later, that V6 finally showed him what it could really do.

Let’s just say… he’s not missing the Hilux anymore.

If your vehicle needs a little help finding its spark, message the page, let’s see what we can unlock for you.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class in question was having what can only be described as an existential crisis.

One minute, it proudly declared, “AdBlue full, sir!” The next? “Absolutely bone dry. Also, engine start not possible. Good luck.”

The poor driver was stranded at work in Yorkshire, staring at a dashboard that had clearly woken up and chosen chaos. With plans to head home to Lancashire for the weekend, the car instead decided it was staying put, possibly forever, like a stubborn toddler refusing to leave the playground.

Enter us.

We arrived to find the Mercedes sulking, convinced it was both full and empty at the same time, the automotive equivalent of “I’m not hungry” while holding a sandwich. A bit of diagnostic wizardry, some expert tinkering, and a calm but firm chat with the AdBlue system later, and order was restored.

Moments later, the engine fired up as if nothing had happened. No drama. No warning. Just pure “What problem?”

Driver rescued. Weekend saved. Mercedes forgiven… but not trusted.

A farm’s Merlo telehandler had gone from hardworking hero to dramatic diva overnight. A few stubborn DTCs threw it into limp mode, leaving it slow, wheezy, and in danger of being overtaken by a wheelbarrow.

We gave the ECU a bit of expert attention, showed those fault codes the door, and just like that, full power restored. Now it’s back to lifting, shifting, and earning its keep like nothing ever happened.
