When your van is part of your everyday working life, having it off the road is the last thing you need. 🔧

We see plenty of Ford Transits, Transit Customs and Rangers through the workshop, with wet belt replacements being a big part of what we do.

It’s one of those maintenance jobs that’s easily overlooked, especially when your van is running absolutely fine.

But keeping on top of it can help avoid some pretty costly engine problems further down the line.

Worth checking when yours is due, particularly if you’re putting plenty of miles on the clock!

Not all wet belt quotes are like-for-like. 🔧

We get asked for prices every day, and it’s completely understandable to compare quotes. But before choosing based on the number at the bottom, make sure you know what you’re actually getting for it.

What parts are being fitted?
Are OEM parts being used?
Is the oil system being checked?
Is the correct oil going back in?
What exactly is included in the job?

A cheaper quote isn’t necessarily a bad quote, and a more expensive one isn’t automatically better. The important bit is comparing the actual work being carried out.

We get these calls all the time.

“Can I get a quote for my wet belt?”

We give the price, explain what’s involved and quite often hear:

“Ah okay, I’ll get it booked in soon.”

Then, a few weeks later, the phone rings again. 🚨

The belt’s failed. Or snapped. And now we could be looking at a much bigger job.

That’s the frustrating part. Once your wet belt is due or showing signs of deterioration, it really isn’t something we’d recommend putting off.

Replacing the belt is preventative maintenance.

Waiting until it fails can mean oil starvation and serious engine damage and suddenly, the bill can look very different.

If you’ve been meaning to get yours done, don’t leave it sitting on the to-do list.

The colder mornings are creeping in… which means it’s a good time to give your car a once-over before winter properly hits. ❄️

A few simple checks now can save you a lot of hassle when the temperatures drop.

Tyres, battery, oil, coolant, lights, wipers and brakes are all worth keeping an eye on as we head into the colder months.

And if your car runs a wet belt, don’t forget about that either. Knowing when it was last checked or replaced could save you from a much bigger problem further down the line.

On an Ingenium engine, a rattle can point towards timing chain wear. On a wet belt engine, changes in how it runs, oil pressure warnings or debris within the oil system can all give us somewhere to start.

But one symptom doesn’t automatically mean one diagnosis.

We work with these engines every day. We know their common failure points, what needs checking and, importantly, when something doesn’t need replacing.

The job is to find the fault and fix what actually needs fixing. 🔧

Mileage alone wouldn’t put us off an EcoBoost. What matters is its history, how it’s been looked after and, importantly, what’s happening with that wet belt.

We know these engines inside out … which is exactly why having our own used car sales site in Doncaster makes sense.
