Good morning all, I have been very quiet the last few weeks as I have been preparing for the second (long awaited) trip by road to Ukraine.
To say that the journey has been bumpy would be an understatement.
I’ve been trying to arrange this using my own vehicles and funding where possible with a huge help from friends, family, colleagues and the generosity of the people of Bassetlaw and surrounding areas.
A run of bad luck with my own vehicles, followed by being promised a van to use (from a major van hire company) only for them to cancel the evening before I was due to set off has had a massive impact on the whole situation including myself.
However, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I can only remain positive. I have a few more things to sort out over the next few days but (fingers, legs, everything) crossed I will be departing next week.

Good evening all, after a successful initial recce of the situation at the Ukraine border I wanted to give you a brief outline of the teams intentions. The team = Myself, Nathan & Tom.
Nathan & Tom are remaining in country to establish a base location we can operate from, build relationships with locals on both sides of the border and maintain communications with me.
I am heading back to the UK where I will be organising the donations that have been donated and collected so far. I also have the task of arranging the first trip back out to Ukraine via road. This will be the first run to deliver the donations to the people of Ukraine by our team.
We are also in the process of setting up & registering as a charity (name & further details TBC) this will include an official charity bank account so that future donations will go directly to this bank account.
The donations of equipment, food, clothing etc that have been received will be distributed on my return. Financial donations are being used for essentials that allow us to carry out this work.
I must take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who have helped us to date. Without the donations and support we have received we wouldn’t be able to help those in need.

I have been speaking with a Ukrainian civilian contact this evening who has informed me that the biggest fear at the minute is the threat by the Russians to use chemical weapons.
Can I ask my family, friends, contacts and anyone else that this post reaches, particularly any ex military, to dig out any NBC equipment they may have. Respirators with canisters, NBC suits, any colour, any size so long as they are in a working condition. DKP 1 & 2, anything that may be used to offer any protection no matter how small. I will try and arrange collections where possible. Or PM me for my work address to send by post/courier.
