Bullet has been bitten and after more hair pulling and swearing we have had to source a donor chassis for the pieces of rare unavailable VW metal we need, we'd rather have original metal than settle for poor repops. Yes all will have to be unpicked. This was originally cut in the 80`s so it goes to good use. rare centre piece and rear inner cuts are a god send, thanks Paul Irving :)

Lots of areas inaccessible to address properly so a mobile media blaster is called in to prep the workable area to enable proper inspection and preparation

Investigation confirms the worst... both arches gone(inner and outer) and inner and outer lower valance along with A pillars. Correct metalworking of these areas means its off with the nose which is a shame as this is pretty straight and largely rust free

starting at the front and underneath, whats left of the floor comes up, braced and left side chassis rail out ready to take new one

engine and transaxle out, beam and floor, doors off glass out...oh and floor. master cylinder brace also now shot and replaced with a schofield hand made one

So... the butchers bill is thus.... Roof gone at peak, skylight apertures, and two areas on rear corners , drip channel inner front window frames front nose lower inner and outer, a pillars cab floor inner tubs and centre toolchest. Bulkhead lower, floor sills, Chassis rails from beam to torsion tube, inner sill and strengthener, all cab door bottoms and cargo door bottoms, rear arch tubs, battery trays outer lower corners and deck lid frame, inner popout frames bother sides, headlamp support panel, inner lower valance and front arches complete.... tailgate and decklid are fine strangely enough, let the strip-down commence!!!
