Rule 217 of The Highway Code is about being a considerate road user around learner drivers and inexperienced drivers on the road.🚘

It states:

👉 Learner drivers and inexperienced drivers may not be so skilful at anticipating and responding to events.
👉 Be particularly patient with learner drivers and young drivers.
👉 Drivers who have recently passed their test may display a ‘new driver’ plate or sticker (see https://ow.ly/TVtG50POEsV).

Rule 133 of The Highway Code states:

👀 If you need to change lane, first use your mirrors and if necessary take a quick sideways glance to make sure you will not force another road user to change course or speed.

🚘 When it is safe to do so, signal to indicate your intentions to other road users and when clear, move over.

As snow is falling in parts of the UK today, it's important to remember what Rule 229 of the Highway Code states before you set off on any journey 🌨️:

You MUST be able to see, so clear all snow and ice from all your windows ✔️
You MUST ensure that lights are clean and number plates are clearly visible and legible✔️
Make sure the mirrors are clear and the windows are demisted thoroughly ✔️
Remove all snow that might fall off into the path of other road users ✔️
Check your planned route is clear of delays and that no further snowfalls or severe weather are predicted ✔️

Drive safely, and do not travel in severe weather unless your journey is essential ❄️

Do not reverse from a side road into a main road ❌

When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can 🚗
