The Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland you say? Best to visit in Spring time? Well that would be grand.

Green, blooming pastures to drive past on 1,500 miles of Ireland's coastal highway - the craggy cliffs hug the western shoreline from Donegal in the north, all the way down to the south coast and County Cork.

"The route twists past some of the most beautiful places in Ireland. It’s a long road, so this is a trip to take some time over, rather than a quick weekend jaunt. Start in Donegal, which has some of Ireland’s best beaches (Port Arthur near Derrybeg is one of the most glorious, while Bundoran is the area’s surfing capital).

Driving down the coast, the road winds through Sligo, the country which most inspired Yeats (and more recently, of Normal People fame), and into Connemara. It’s a rocky stretch of countryside and national park that sits right on the Atlantic, dotted with waterside castles and traditional pubs that hum with live music. Next, Galway – possibly Ireland’s most creative city right now, known for its quirky tone and innovative food scene – before driving past the towering Cliffs of Moher, which have some of the best views on the route. The Wild Atlantic Way finishes in the pretty fishing town of Kinsale in County Cork."

The Welsh Coastal Way
A journey that is impossible to disappoint, with all the harbour towns, secret coves and fishing villages dotted around and in between blue seas and mountains, this route just keeps on giving.

Choose between sandy beaches or beautiful mountains, coastal strolls or green hikes - jump from one to the other each day, then park up and spend a luxurious evening in one of our motorhomes under the stars. The route either begins at Aberdaron or St Davids, and the adventure can be mapped out or discovered amongst wonderful destinations that lead the way there.

"The route’s cultural highlights include Harlech Castle, the fantasy village of Portmeirion, St Davids Cathedral and St Davids Bishop's Palace. There are memorable spots off the beaten track, the north coast of the Llŷn Peninsula, Snowdonia, Pumlumon, Preseli. Endless ways for your clients to discover their own secret places. Pubs and restaurants have freshly caught seafood on the menu, together with lamb and beef from the nearby pastures and local craft ales."

The Cambrian Way is a travel route through that can stretch from north to south Wales, with sights of the mountains that rise and fall throughout the country. Running for 185 miles (300 km) coast to coast, this journey provides the opportunity to drive through and take in the National Parks – Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons.

Of course there are many other stops in between that can help you get a full experience of Welsh life and its beautiful surroundings/culture. From the countries capital of Cardiff to the Victorian coastal resort of Llandudno there is a huge variety of experiences to soak up.

If you just want to experience the wonders of nature then you could honestly spend a lifetime absorbing the valleys and hikes in between stops, however a week would definitely provide you with an unforgettable adventure.

Throughout the central heart of the journey you can see the vast untouched landscapes of Pumlumon, the incredible lakelands of the Elan Valley, and the amazing Tywi Forest.

The south part of the journey escalates back into the hills of Breacon Beacons, in which the beautiful scenery of the National Park can be found. There are also so many market towns to visit, each having their very own character and indistinguishable places to eat/drink and stay in. Throughout the whole journey you have so many opportunities to park up and experience a night in the motorhome amongst nature. This could be after a spectacular long distance walk, cycle or horse ride. Whatever you do in the day, you couldn't be any more cosier once you are back in the motorhome thinking about the moments you won't ever forget.

Welsh adventures? South, north, east or right through the middle, there are loads of options for routes to take for a road adventure. We have a few to post about so stick around! Some good options from the visitwales site are:

The Cambrian Way
A complete north to south journey along the mountainous spine of Wales, running for 185 miles (300 km) coast to coast. It winds through two National Parks – Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons – and the big green spaces in between.

The Coastal Way
It runs the entire length of Cardigan Bay. It’s a 180 mile (290 km) route that threads between blue seas on one side and mountains on the other. The start and end points – Aberdaron and St Davids – are both ancient pilgrimage destinations. In between, the coast is dotted with harbour towns and resorts, fishing villages and secret coves

The North Wales Way
This follows the old trading route along the northern coast on to Anglesey. Quite apart from the resort towns and castles that line the 75 mile (120 km) trail, it’s the starting point to discover the panoramic north. From here visitors can explore the Vales of Clwyd and Conwy, the mountains of Snowdonia, the Menai Strait, and the largest island, Anglesey.

A short drive away, Thetford Forest began as a creation from industrialist Edward Bliss, in a time when many wealthy members of the elite set out to plant trees from all other the world amongst their lands. It began

"Having made his wealth from selling gun flint to the army during the Napoleonic Wars, Edward set to work developing his hall, walled garden and arboretum. The arboretum grew and grew, full of exotic species from Blue Atlas Cedar to Giant Redwoods to Monkey Puzzle Trees.

In the grounds he built a small, flint knapped, gothic mausoleum surrounded by Irish Yews. This was to be the final resting place for himself and his wife but in the early 20th century they were moved to Brandon Cemetery. Today the mausoleum plays home to Pipestrelle bats and reputably the ghost of Edward's nephew, Baron Boretto. Dressed in knee breaches, a deer stalker and holding a human skull lit by a candle, he is occasionally seen wandering the grounds. What, or who, is he looking for?"

Numerous walks criss-cross this area of Thetford, the main car park may be busy but once you get into the depths of the park, the whole area becomes quiet and a great place to clear your mind.

As spring approaches and we plan a bluebell trail visit, we have found out some amazing facts about the history of the flower species. Bluebells have not only been admired aesthetically for hundreds of years, but the sap has been used as adhesive throughout history also. Whether it was for attaching feathers to arrows or for binding books, it shows the amazing ways humans have used nature for tools.
