🚗 DVSA Driving Test Booking Changes – Effective Today (31 March 2026) 🚗
Big changes have just come into force that will affect how learners book their practical driving tests. Here’s what you and your pupils need to know:
🔄 Only 2 Test Changes AllowedFrom today, learners can only change their car driving test up to two times (previously six). Any adjustment counts as a change — whether it’s the date, time, test centre, or swapping with another learner. After two changes, you’ll need to cancel and rebook.
⏳ Instructors Can Now Block Out Unavailable TimesADIs can set their availability so pupils won’t see test slots that clash with holidays, teaching schedules, or travel time between tests.
🧭 Upcoming Changes to Who Can Book (Not Today, but Soon)From 12 May 2026, only learner drivers themselves will be legally allowed to book or change a test — instructors can still support but not submit bookings.
📍 Location Rules Changing Soon TooFrom 9 June 2026, learners will only be able to move tests to nearby centres, based on DVSA’s updated distance calculations.
💡 Why This Is HappeningThese changes aim to make the system fairer and more secure, reduce abuse from third‑party resellers, and ensure that tests go to those genuinely ready and prepared.
➡️ Tip for Pupils: Only book when you’re confident you’ll be ready — flexibility is now much more limited!
