This BMW 320i was an interesting one.
Not because of the installation.
Not because of the condition.
But because of the messages we received while it was here.
"Why spend that much protecting a basic 3 Series?"
It's a fair question.
The car is a G20 320i. Around 52,000 miles. Worth roughly £17,000.
Not exactly what most people picture when they think of a full-body PPF installation.
When the enquiry first came through, I'll admit I assumed it would be a high-spec M Sport or something a bit more exotic.
It wasn't.
Just a well-kept BMW owned by someone who wanted to protect it properly and make it easier to maintain.
And honestly, that's all the reason anyone needs.
The customer discussed the options, agreed on the package, and booked in. No concerns about the car's value. No concerns about the price. He knew exactly what he wanted.
Once the car arrived, the paintwork told the usual story of a used daily driver.
A few stone chips.
Some previous repair work that wasn't quite to the standard we'd have liked.
And the sort of defects that naturally build up over 50,000 miles.
Before the film went on, we touched in a few of the more noticeable stone chips, carried out some localised polishing, and improved the finish as much as possible.
Over the next 5 days, we installed full gloss PPF to every painted panel, headlights and B-pillars.
We even replaced the original 320i badge rather than cutting around it. A cleaner finish, no gaps, and a more durable result.
The transformation was huge.
Not because it suddenly became a different car.
But because it became the best version of the car the owner already loved.
When he collected it, he was absolutely delighted.
And ultimately, that's the only opinion that matters.
