BMH Original Panel Samples

Another clip from the Mini Owners Club factory tour. 👀🚗

Where the team got a first hand look at our collection of original sample panels, that play a vital role in ensuring accuracy across every part we produce.

These samples not only help us confirm that our Jigs remain correct, but also provide the most reliable way to check details such as spot‑weld locations, panel orientation and overall shape — sometimes the best reference is simply the original panel itself.

British Motor Heritage panels are manufactured using original drawings, patterns and tooling, ensuring a fit and finish that stays true to the original design.

From MGB, MGR‑V8, MG Midget and Austin‑Healey Sprite, through to Triumph TR2–6, Triumph Spitfire, Classic Mini and E‑Type Jaguar, it’s about preserving the original design and maintaining true authenticity.

BMH Bodyshell Tags

Here is a quick clip from the Mini Owners Club factory tour where we show them our bodyshell tags. These tags are spot welded to every bodyshell during production. These build numbers are unique to each shell and enable us to trace it back through our archive records.

It’s a small detail, but an important one, connecting every authentic bodyshell to its history and ensuring full traceability long after it leaves the factory.

Check out this sneak peak of another fabulous edition of our Classics in the Making videos.

This time, we’re taking you behind the scenes of how a MGB GT Rear Wing is made.

Three members of our skilled manufacturing team - Nick, Martin and Tom, guide you through the full hand‑built process, from the first clamps in the jig right through to final straightening and polishing.

Made from seven individual components, each wing takes around 2–3 hours to build.

It’s a great insight into the skill, patience and experience behind the panels we produce.

🎥 Watch the full process on our YouTube channel - https://youtu.be/YxIhV1fYReA

You can purchase this Wing from one of our MG Approved Specialists quoting part number: HZA4222

One of our BMH managers represented BMH at the Mile of Mini – Italian Job event at the MINI Plant Oxford, (in his little Mini) and he captured some fab pics along the way.

We’ve pulled them together into this short video to share the experience with you.
Classic cars, great atmosphere, and plenty of MINI magic 👌

Another fab highlight from the Mini Owners Club factory tour featuring our Finishing Booth. 👀🚗

Once a bodyshell is fully assembled, it comes into the finishing booth — where every detail is carefully checked. Under specialist lighting, the team looks for any dings, dents or marks, and lines up the doors, bonnet and boot to ensure all the correct clearances are met.

Spot welds are cleaned up by hand, and traditional tools such as hammers, dollies and paddles are still used to straighten and refine each shell. It’s an old‑school process, but one carried out to standards that go beyond what was expected when these cars were first built.

Every shell is fully finished in this booth before it leaves — built the original way, but finished to today’s expectations.
