The reason I wrote my book was because when I trained to become a driving instructor there were very few books available that provided the information I felt I needed.

I began writing it back in 2018 (though I originally started it in 2016, but lost everything I wrote due to a computer giving up the ghost). It took 8 years to complete as things within the industry have changed considerably and I have learned so much through the various roles I have held and courses I have taken.

There were times during my journey to becoming a driving instructor that I honestly wondered if I would ever get there.

When I finally qualified as an ADI, I realised this profession is about so much more than teaching someone to drive. It’s about helping people gain confidence, independence, freedom and belief in themselves.

Now it’s my intention to “encourage others through fear, apprehension and uncertainty so that they build confidence, transform their lives, and become the individual they should truly be”.

That belief became the foundation not only for the way I teach, coach and support people — but also the reason I wrote this book.

This book is everything I wish I’d had when I started.

It’s honest.
It’s practical.
It’s supportive.
And it comes from real experience.

Inside are the lessons I’ve learned through the ups and downs of training, qualifying, teaching, coaching and continuing to grow within this profession that I genuinely love.

I wanted this book to do more than simply help people pass tests. I wanted it to encourage, reassure and guide those who may be doubting themselves because I know exactly what that feels like.

Well it's definitely been an eventful week for Stephen who borrowed my car to take his part 3 this morning. Stephen Baker has worked really hard this past year and has developed his skills to achieve a fantastic 39 out of 51. As you can see his daughter Chloe who accompanied him was in a bit of shock after receiving the great news ( nothing to do with the sun being in her eyes, honest 😉).
Massive congratulations, Stephen and well done Chloe on being his star pupil.

Another great reference for Bobbie Sheldon

Hi. My name is Patti and Bobbie was my driving instructor from Oct 2025 to 20th of April 2026. I passed my test that day first time and I can't thank her enough for being such a great instructor. What a great drive after going in the wrong direction twice, keeping her cool and passing her test on the first attempt with just 4 driving faults. A great result Geeta, well done. Geeta was a student of Bobbie Sheldon, who has been a great asset to DARE2DRIVE.

Now Bobbie Sheldon is a fully qualified driving instructor, she's still on a role with her learners upgrading their licences to fully qualified drivers.

I'm pleased to say that my trainee instructor Bobbie Sheldon is no longer a trainee. She has worked really hard and today that paid off, passing her part 3, the final test to become a fully qualified driving instructor.

Well done, now you can finally relax... At least for a short while ☺️
