Happy Halloween 👻 🎃

06/10/2026

After a long spell of dry weather, rain can make roads slippery.
🚗💨
Wipers on/dipped lights on, and override auto lights if necessary 🙂

Take your time and stay safe.

An update from the DVSA about test swapping
🚗💨💨

24/09/2026

From the DVSA…What happens during your driving test
🚗💨💨

Curious about what happens during a driving test? Here's what to expect on test day.

An eyesight check 👀
You'll read a number plate from 20 metres away or 20.5 metres if it's an old-style plate.

'Show me, tell me' vehicle safety questions 💭
You'll answer 2 questions about vehicle safety. The 'tell me' question comes before you start driving and the 'show me' question while you're on the move.

General driving ability ✅
You'll drive on a variety of roads, but not on motorways, including 20 to 35 minutes of independent driving, following either a sat nav, traffic signs, or both.

Reversing your vehicle 🚗
You'll be asked to do one of the following: parallel park, park in a bay, or pull up on the right and reverse 2 car lengths. Your examiner will let you know which one.

Knowing what's coming can make test day feel a lot less daunting.

Just to let you know that the M4 is closed this weekend between J10 and J11.
See below for more info 🚗

⚠️ The M4 will be closed in both directions between J10 (Winnersh) and J11 (Reading).

📅 Friday 18 September 9pm to Monday 21 September 6am.

This is needed so Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) can safely run new high-voltage wires across the motorway.

Through traffic will be diverted by the
➡️ A329(M)
➡️ B3270

Please plan ahead, allow extra time, and follow the signed diversion route rather than sat nav directions. For more information, visit the SSEN website.

Important full guidance from the DVLA regarding swapping driving tests, which starts 12th May 2026
🚗💨

You may be able to swap your car driving test with another learner driver by phone if you both already have a test booked and want each other's test slot.

Information re booking driving tests from DVSA
🚗💨💨

We’re putting learners in control of their car driving test bookings 🚘

If you’ve got a booking or you’ll be looking for a test soon, make a note of these dates 📅

31 March 2026 – only 2 changes can be made to a booking

12 May 2026 – only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes

9 June 2026 – learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres

By changing who can book car and change driving tests, we’re aiming to reduce the re-selling of driving tests, giving the power back to learners 💪
