Tyre check day 🚗🔧

with the roads and weather changing. It’s vitally important to check the condition of your tyres as the roads will be slippery with the rain after the dry weather.

These tyres were checked with a digital tread-depth gauge and came in at around 4 mm so they were fine to continue

The legal minimum tread depth for a car tyre is 1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tyre.

*TOP TIP: if you haven’t got access to a tread depth gauge the outer part of a 20 pence coin is approximately 2 mm so will give you an idea of tread depth*

Always worth checking tread depth, tyre pressures and looking for cracks, cuts or uneven wear. A few minutes checking your tyres can make a big difference to safety on the road. 👍

🔧 CAMBELT REPLACEMENT – DON’T LEAVE IT TOO LATE! 🔧
Another cambelt job underway! 🛠️
The cambelt is one of the most important components in your engine, and if it fails, the results can be very expensive.
These photos show the cambelt system stripped down and ready for replacement. A proper cambelt service should include checking the tensioners, idlers and water pump where applicable — not just fitting a new belt.
⏰ If your cambelt is due, or you’re unsure when it was last replaced, don’t take the risk.

🔧 Choke needs fixing! 🔧

It’s not just us that can’t breathe in the heat, this v8 stag was struggling too

Working on the choke of this classic car — getting it adjusted and operating properly so the engine starts and runs smoothly.

There’s something satisfying about fixing the little mechanical details that keep these old cars running just as they should. 🚗🛠️

A trip down memory lane ...... came across this Wimbish Village Magazine dating back to 1985. How things have changed. A lot of the services and sadly the people are no longer with us, but I am pleased to say Brooklands Garage is still going strong!

Found the source of the leak today—coolant spraying from a damaged hose.

It's always satisfying tracking down the problem, even if it means getting your hands dirty! 🛠️

A small leak can quickly turn into a big problem if ignored, so if you notice your engine running hot or see coolant dripping, don't wait to get it checked.
