Wigan Youth Zone Golf Day 2026

Today saw this year's annual Golf Day organised by our friends at Wigan Youth Zone, held once again at Arley Hall & Gardens Wigan Golf Club.

Our very own Jack headed up the trio of players representing Westwood for a relaxing day on the course followed by a bite to eat and a raffle in support of WYZ, one of Wigan's most recognisable institutions of which we're proud to be Platinum Patrons.

Team Westwood's trio had a brilliant day at an event which was once again well organised and thoroughly enjoyable.

Congratulations to Wigan Youth Zone for another triumph of a day and we look forward to the next one!

Yesterday we received a call from David, the Director of Liverpool based fire suppression specialists Intek Fire & Safety Solutions.

Today, (this morning in fact,) David was here at our Wigan Head Office collecting the keys to a brand new, top end Land Rover Defender Commercial which he's taken on a 12 month flexible rental deal. Here he is with our very own Bethan.

The new Defender Commercial is, unsurprisingly, massively popular right now. It has the size, luxury and brand appeal of it's 5 seat counterpart, but because there are no seats in the back, the Taxman considers it a van as far as VAT and BIC are concerned.

Perfect for those who previously might have chosen a double cab pickup for both their versatility and tax efficiency. The Defender Commercial still has those benefits.

We were delighted to have been able to give David the warm welcome and swift turnaround he deserves and sent him on his way into the weekend with his stunning new wheels.

Geely Starray Ultra – Hybrid Car Hire Available RIGHT Now!

The Geely Starray is yet another large Chinese Car from a large Chinese brand you’d be forgiven for not having heard of before.

Geely however, are not a new brand, they are, in fact one of the largest car manufacturers in China. You might be surprised to know that they’re not new to the UK market, although they’ve only just started using their own name over here.

Let us explain…. Geely either own, or have associations with some automotive brands you most definitely HAVE heard of: Lotus, Volvo, Polestar, LEVC, Smart…. all brands held under Geely. Not bad for a brand you’re only just finding out about (and might not be 100% sure how to pronounce – is it Jee-Lee or Ghee-Lee?).

So, on to their second UK car under their own name, the Geely Starray. You might have already spotted the Geely EX5 here at Westwood from when we were loaned a pre-release sample to play with. For all intents and purposes, the EX5 and Starray are the same car. The EX5 is fully electric, the Starray, is a plug-in hybrid. It’s nice to see an Eastern car come with an actual name!

The Geely Starray comes n three trim levels and we’ve gone for the top of the range ‘Ultra’ trim, which, as the name suggests has literally everything you could want rom a car. The car itself is a larger than average SUV, with a powerful electric motor and a 1.5 litre petrol engine which work together to provide a comfortable and surprisingly brisk driving experience. The look of the car is imposing, but not aggressive, there are smooth sweeping lines and contours breaking up the overall shape which perfectly matches the effortlessness of the driving dynamics.
