There is something quite improbable about a motorcycle like this one that still thumps around the roads of the modern era. It is well over a century since the wheels of this 1912 Triumph first turned, and thanks to an avid enthusiast it continues to rattle down the road over a century later. It is not a motorcycle that has been restored into sterile perfection but is one that feels alive and carries its battle scars with pride.

A 1938 Levis Model D Special at the Fleet Lions Run.

The Model D Special was a sporting model in the Levis line-up, powered by a 498cc overhead-valve twin-port engine. It offered a guaranteed top speed of 78–80 mph with a comfortable cruising speed of 60–65 mph. The D Special featured a four-speed foot-change gearbox; it was a bike that was built with sporting riders in mind, yet had some practical features to make it a reliable tourer. It is also one very handsome machine!
