Another wet belt that people might not know about and causing issues. This is the 1.2 petrol purtech fitted in Peugeot, citreon, Vauxhall to name a few. This belt had only been in the vehicle for 30,000 miles with full history. The belt was in such a poor condition it was only just hanging on. The pile of black mush is actually bits of cambelt that has worn away made it's way to the sump then the oil pick up. This was completely blocking the oil pick up and eventually would have caused oil starvation then causing engine failure. If you think you have one of these engines fitted in your vehicle please have it checked before it's too late and costs you thousands in repair bills.

Well it's been a busy end to the week. Had little and large in today. A lovely 2021 Mercedes CLS in for a full service and MOT. Then moved onto a Peugeot 107 also in for a full service, as can be seen by the air filter it was long overdue replacement, now running a lot smoother as it can actually breathe 😁. This afternoon was brake time, a nice VW transporter T5.1 in for discs and pads front and rear. Also in today was a Nissan primastar with an oil leak, the cause of this is the cam cover gasket. This will be replaced in the coming days. A nice variety of jobs and vehicles today to keep me on my toes. So if your vehicle needs some TLC let me know and I'll get you booked in. As these are a hot topic atm I thought I would let people know that I am doing the transit wet belts. These are on the 2.0L vans from approximately 2016 on. Early failures are generally down to extended service intervals So for this job a genuine Ford wet belt cambelt, oil pump belt, oil pick up and sump are fitted. I also carry out a full engine service at the same time which includes oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter and cabin filter. This then ensures that everything is at its optimum.
