The year is 1995, you’ve got £500 to buy a car. There's no Facebook Marketplace, no Auto Trader app and no checking the MOT history online.
You’ve picked up the local free-ads paper, flicked straight to the motors section and found these six waiting for you. Which one are you taking home?
A Lancia Prisma for £500.
A Vauxhall Astra for £495.
A Ford Capri for just £350. 👀
A Honda Civic for £395.
A Vauxhall Nova for £500.
Or a Volkswagen Scirocco for £425.
These are genuine adverts and prices from November 1995 (From Auto Trader) - we've just mocked it all up into a nice retro looking image.
So, you’ve got £500 in your pocket and enough change for a phone box. You're off to make a call, which seller are you ringing?
For some extra nostalgia, tell us the best car you ever bought from the classifieds and how much you paid for it.
