Want to help your car pass it’s annual mot and feel more relaxed about bringing it in? Here’s a few quick tips you can do at home to help your vehicle on its way.
1. Turn on all exterior lights and check they all work and that the indicators are orange.
2. Beep your horn to see if it works and it’s loud enough to be heard by other road users.
3. Windscreen washers work and wipers clear the screen.
4. There’s no massive cracks or chips in the windscreen (in the drivers eye line) or wing mirrors damaged (glass).
5. All wheels have all their wheel nuts on. (This may sound silly but it’s not uncommon for cars to come in with some missing.)
6. Have a quick look at the tyres, make sure their not worn down to wear indicators or any wires exposed.
7. Your registration (number) plate can be easily read (not damaged/deteriorating)
8. No smoke is coming from your exhaust (pay extra attention if diesel)
9. There’s no sharp edges or objects on the bodywork which could cause harm to others.
10. Check last years MOT certificate for any advisory’s that may have got worse and could become a failure within the year. (Can always ask us for our professional opinion before hand)
11. No warning lights on dashboard (ABS,air bag, engine light Ect)
