I need...everyone who has not run a business before to appreciate the levels of hard work and commitment we business owners go through to deliver a great service to our clients.

It’s rather insulting when people ask for “a reasonably priced X” or “someone who is not a rip off” or when the asking price is £150, please don’t ask us to do it for £100 cash. There may be only £30-40 in it for us, effectively losing us money at “£100 cash”

Cheap normally means cheap. If you consider yourself cheap that’s fine. But in my experience you’ll pay double for something if the first cheap job didn’t work out.

Whether it’s my mechanic, book keeper, accountant, sign writer or the people who supply our uniforms, they are in place to help me and my business and I don’t mind paying the asking price for a great service.

Nor should any of us. Small businesses have very tight profit margins. We don’t have the same buying power as big corporations.

But in return you get a personal service from a small business. You will be treated as an individual and not as “just another customer”

We’ve all heard about B&Q and how terrible it can be buying a kitchen for example. Try a smaller recommended business and I bet the service will be ten times better than some website you managed to save a few quid on.
